Jon started acting and singing in kindergarten and continued to perform on stages and in competitions through college – awarded first place for comedy performance multiple times at local, regional and state championships . His family was a musical one – his father played multiple instruments. He and his brothers all took music and piano. The entire family sang at church.
He first started creating character voices working as an assistant in the children’s church puppet ministry, continuing as a creator/actor for comedy/drama performances at college events.
After 2 years of online research and voiceover training, he caught his first break when a local Memphis studio advertised on MySpace. His own family and friends told him he should leave this fantasy to more talented people and get a real job, yet he persisted.
After booking 1-3 jobs a month for a year, the economy crashed and his full-time job filed for bankruptcy, leaving him to support his family with odd jobs and full-time voice acting.
He broke into movie trailers from a YouTube video and after a few hundred, he was discovered on YouTube again by the hit comedy series Honest Trailers and became their “Epic Movie Trailer Voice” – thus the name.
From there, he signed with the biggest voiceover talent agency in Los Angeles and moved there 3 years later.
For the past 16 years his first professional booking, Jon Bailey’s career has skyrocketed yet has still only just begun. By the grace of God, determination and support of associates & fans, Jon’s gone from 5 year old kid inspired by the voice of Optimus Prime to actually voicing Optimus Prime plus over 20 other Transformers voices and many other voices for some of his childhood favorites like Disney, Star Wars, Muppets & Lego.
Now, not just an epic movie trailer voice, Jon Bailey is a guy of many epic voices – thus transforming into… EPIC VOICE GUY!
